Music and Writings Update 2017

I was at The Alleycat bar in Oxford Circus, where The Kinks have recorded. I was watching the open mic there. There was an American guy who looked like an economist on stage. His choruses were strong, but he looked a geek! The band that followed were a three piece outfit: one of the guitarists looked like Tim Buckley, a very lanky very, the bassist looked like the guy from The Mission, he was drinking a large glass of wine prior to their set, whilst the drummer looked like Jimmy Somerville. Last but not least, the singer looked like Syd Barrett, he was dressed in that whole retro 70s chic look, with the necktie cravat and swirly patterns. They put on a good performance, but they were a bit shabby in their nostalgia. We thought the following artist in the runnings, had stage presence, but he didn’t play much, before he come off stage and went over to the bar to order a drink and chat.

Tour De Force 2017: Open Mic at The Elephants Head

We played at The Elephants Head to our first crowd this year of around 50 punters with our opening song Parallelogram Telegram, from the up and coming Eaghams album The Lyric Play. The engineer was sound: he played a couple of songs to launch the evening, and added accompaniment to the artist performances. I played out my song second in the line up. It was a cool crowd, and the fellow line up were quite cool. One fellow artist come on stage after a few drinks, leisurely she tapped out the rhythms on her glass as she sang, asking the crowd to chorus with her.
